The Design Museum in London was founded by Terence Conran in 1989 and has been in Kensington since 2016. It published this book for its 2026 exhibition on NIGO, edited by Rachel Hajek and Esme Hawes, with texts by Pharrell, Johanna Agerman Ross, Tiffany Godoy, and W. David Marx, the author of Ametora, alongside NIGO's own words.
NIGO, born Tomoaki Nagao, launched A Bathing Ape in 1993 and helped shape streetwear for the next three decades. The book follows that run through garments, archival material, and objects from his personal collections, from early BAPE and the Bapesta sneaker to his recent study of pottery and the Japanese tea ceremony, which makes it a useful history of his work for anyone who follows Japanese fashion.
