The heart of the shop is Japanese clothing made with time and attention: indigo-dyed denim, sashiko stitching and boro patchwork, heavyweight knits, and workwear and outdoor pieces built to be used hard. Labels like Kapital and KUON set the standard for what we look for, because in their clothing the dyeing, weaving, and mending are the design.
Alongside them, sabi carries a small number of European and American labels chosen on the same terms: honest construction, good fabric, and clothes that look better after a few years of wear than they did on the first day.
Every piece in the Second Hand collection is individually selected, inspected, and photographed as it actually is, and nothing is sold by the bin or by the pound. If something has been mended, we say so, and usually that's why we bought it.

That idea is why the shop is built the way it is. Boro and sashiko, the Japanese traditions of mending cloth with visible stitches rather than hiding the repair, are the clearest expression of it, and they run through a lot of what we carry.

sabi is a curated boutique, not a thrift store. A thrift store accepts what it's given and prices by volume, while sabi buys individual pieces on purpose.
Every secondhand item is chosen by hand, checked for condition, measured, and listed with its flaws described. You don't have to dig through racks or gamble on sizing. The curation is what you are paying for, meaning the hours spent passing on ninety-nine pieces to find the one worth offering.
