Oregon taught us that beauty can be found everywhere you look. Leach Botanical Garden sits along Johnson Creek in outer Southeast, quiet paths and creek sound for anyone willing to make the trip and slow down.
Find it, and the rest of the city we keep returning to, on sabi's Portland list.
Why it stays quiet
Leach sits far from the usual downtown loop, so the paths stay open. That distance is its gift: room to wander at your own pace.
The grounds and creek
Upper and lower gardens step down toward Johnson Creek, with native plants, shaded paths, and the sound of water throughout.

The aerial tree walk
The Aerial Tree Walk lifts you into the canopy from the Upper Garden. It is accessible and open, and the view through the treetops is the high point of a visit.
Tickets & visiting
The garden is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm, with last entry at 3:30 pm. Adult admission is $12, ages 6 to 18 are $5, and children 5 and under are free. Free admission is available on request through the Garden for All program.

Pairing it on a day out
Pair a morning at Leach with lunch, then a private evening at Bear Banya nearby for a full Southeast day.
