Carhartt WIP has been the European half of the story since 1994, when Edwin and Salomée Faeh turned an import business into a licensed brand of its own and started cutting Detroit workwear for a different audience — skaters, graffiti writers, the Berlin and Detroit techno scenes. The parent company still makes shirts for job sites. WIP makes this one.
The Madison is their corduroy button-down, and the fabric is the reason to own it: 8-wale, 9.1 oz, wide enough that the ribs read across a room, heavy enough to hold a shape. Garment washed at the factory, so it arrives already soft and slightly faded rather than stiff.
Glassy Purple is a dusty, chalked-out lavender that reads more grey than purple in flat light and more purple than grey outdoors. Black C embroidered at the chest, button-down collar, full placket, curved hem. Regular fit — true to size.
Condition
Pre-owned, excellent. Corduroy nap intact throughout with no crushing at the elbows or seat of the sleeve. All buttons present. No stains, holes, or repairs noted.
